The sound of dripping water caused Kiara took look up from her desk. It had been raining and drops of pooled water were dripping onto her window. The Princess sat in her private chambers while gazing lazily at a stack of treaties that her father had told her to study. She had a long time before she would become Queen, but her father refused to let her enjoy her spare time. He always wanted her studying up on the latest information from all of the neighboring kingdoms. More specifically the kingdom to the northwest. A kingdom filled to the brim with demonic beings. She had seen them before. Her father liked to entertain traveling nobility. When she snuck out of the castle to wander the market she would sometimes see them as well. The market†¦show more content†¦Her arms were covered fully by tight sleeves that ended at her wrist. Thank you ladies...you are dismissed... She told them, causing them to depart quickly. Kiara slipped on some sparkling earrings and a necklace that dipped down into the exposed area of her chest. I suppose I should get this over with... she sighed softly. The Princess turned to leave her room, headed towards the royal ballroom. Her mind wandered. Her Kingdom was large and relatively wealthy. There were several different towns surrounding the castle itself, deep and often dangerous woods bordered them from their closest enemies but also left towns farther away in peril. The humans often had little to defend against the beasts from the dark woods, and she believed her father was trying to remedy that situation. If they could gain a relationship with one of the demon monarchies they could likely get help protecting their towns from the beasts on their borders. The only question would be what said demons would want in exchange, and if the humans even had anything of worth to them. Kiara stopped before two large doors, carved intricately with ancient symbols that even she didnt understand. She could tell that the party had already begun. She waited to be announced and then placed a warm smile on her lips, walking gracefully into the ballroom. Patient safety goes beyond not falling down. Patient safety is more than avoiding pressure ulcers and adhering to proper hand hygiene protocols. As nurses, we will go beyond changing wound dressings, taking vital signs, giving medications and answering call lights. As nurses we must be able to communicate. Patient safety has become a hot topic in the health care field. Due to changes in health insurance, facilities have had to make policy changes. Patients can no longer be billed for a secondary ailment that takes place in the hospital. Pressure ulcers, falls, and infections are examples of treatments that can have costly results – all of which the health care facility must swallow if the patient didn’t arrive with them. Communication has improved along with these policy changes. Electronic health records are a means of reaching a lot of people in minimal time. Bedside shift reporting gives nurses and patients an opportunity to discuss and alter the care plan. Nurse-patient communication is now more important than ever. Until recently, China has used a set of accounting standards that were quite unique in their records.   These standards were the legacy of a socialist period in Chinese history and rather than keeping records of loss and profit for a corporation operating in China, they mainly concerned themselves with keeping track of all of the assets available to the corporation. By not keeping close tabs on the debts that a corporation owes, the accounting standards in China have long been considered lax by the outside world and have hindered international companies who wish to have headquarters in China. The first true accounting standards in China were implemented in 1997 and changes continue to be made to bring the country’s financial practices up to date.   Currently this transformation is still in progress, so any foreign company with a subsidiary in China must still comply with not only their country’s accounting practices but also with the Chinese straight line accounting practices which allow for a much slower depreciation of capitalized assets. For those wishing to not use the straight line method, the only way to use an accelerated accounting method with regards to Chinese holdings is to receive explicit permission from the Ministry of Finance.   Another difference in Chinese accounting methods is the difference in tax deductibility. For instance, China charges significant tax charges on intercompany transactions and treats transfer pricing of the upmost importance in order to receive a large cut of international taxes.   Incorrect interpretation of Chinese tax laws can lead to severe fines for corporations. In Australia, the corporate accounting practices previously used have also come under fire in previous years for being widely different from internationally accepted accounting standards.   In response, Australia began to work the internationally accepted accounting principles into their current system, effective January 1, 2000, and have also developed the Financial Reporting Council which is responsible for overseeing the accounting practices of both   public and private corporations operating in Australia. The previously lax Australian reporting standards which did not require corporations to conform to one specific type of accounting practices nor give stringent guidelines in so far as what reports were required by the government are being phased out by the International accounting standards which allow Australia to develop along with the global economy. Australia has also instituted an Australian Accounting Standards Boards to periodically re-evaluate corporate accounting practices in Australia as well as enforce the new standards being phased in.   Australia is working to harmonize their standards with those of the International Accounting Standards Committee and is also a part of the G4+1 global group which monitors the setting of international accounting standards. Newtons First Law of Motion Essay Newtons First Law of MotionSir Isaac Newton was in my mind one of the greatest people who everlived. He was born in 1642 and died in 1727. He formulated three laws ofmotion that help explain some very important principles of physics. Some ofNewtons laws could only be proved under certain conditions; actual observationsand experiments made sure that they are true. Newtons laws tell us how objectsmove by describing the relationship between force and motion. I am going to tryto explain his first law in more simple terms. Newtons first law of motion states: A body continues in its state ofrest or uniform motion unless an unbalanced force acts on it. When a body is atrest or in uniform motion this is called inertia. Lets say that someone parksa car on a flat road and forgets to put the vehicle into park. The car shouldstay in that spot. This state of being is called inertia. All of a sudden thewind picks up or some kid crashes into the car with a bike. Both the wind andthe kids bike crashing into the bike are unbalanced forces. The car shouldstart to move. The car might accelerate to two miles per hour. Now we wouldall assume that the car would come to a stop sometime. We assume this becauseit is true. It is true because there is friction between the tires and the road. The car now has inertia in uniform motion. Since there is friction, the carcannot keep moving forever because friction is an unbalanced force acting uponthe tires. What if there was not any friction? The car would keep going forever. That is if there was not any wind or a hill or any unbalanced force acting uponthe car. This is rather weird just to think about. Because this usually wouldnot happen in our customary world today. You just would not see a car go onforever. An easy experiment to demonstrate this law is to take a glass jar andput an index or a heavier than paper card over the top of the glass jar. Next,place a coin on the index card. Be sure that the index card is strong enough tosupport the penny without bending itself. Now place your finger about threecentimeters away from the card and flick the card out from underneath the coin. The coin should fall into the glass jar. The inertia of the coin keeps it inplace even when the card is moving underneath it. Science
